For the first time we had more than one team competing at a single LAN event. The Call of Duty team qualified through an online tournament, placing in the top 4 for a share of $10,000 USD prize pool and CWL points as part of the CyberGamer Premier League - Challenge Division. Joining them was our newly acquired SMITE team who would play their Grand Final of the Oceanic Pro League - Split 1 for a share of $10,000 AUD.

To kick the event off Plantronics Tainted Minds played ChiefsESC in a rematch of the Crown Invitational Semi-Final just one week earlier. In another tight series Chiefs were able to pull it out and defeated the boys 4 - 1.

In the 3rd place consolation match the squad played OrbitGG who had been defeated by Mindfreak. After a strong start to the series Orbit came back to win the series 4 - 1.

This was a disappointing result for the team that will help them learn from their mistakes and come back stronger than ever.

CGPL SMITE Oceanic Pro League - Split 1 Grand Final - Team Pandamonium vs Tainted Minds

Being the dark horse team of the Split no one thought Plantronics Tainted Minds had any chance of qualifying for the final let alone being a contender to take the championship. Yet after the dust of the regular season had settled Plantronics Tainted Minds had made it to the final after being the only team to take a game off the reigning champions Team Pandamonium for over a year.

Finally it was time for the Grand Final and boy was it a final. This series will go down in the history books as the first game 5 series ever played in competitive SMITE Oceania. This series was about as close as it gets with each team answering back one after another until the scores were tied up at 2 - 2 and only one game remained.

After the team huddle before this game the boys were fired up and ready to go with all eyes on them and in particular the hype train Slycy. They launched into the lead right out of the gates and held it in dominating fashion throughout the game. However, Pandas were able to steal the Fire Giant and win the team fight to completely turn the game around and clutch the Titan before Plantronics Tainted Minds could react. This series could not have had a more epic finish and at the end of the day Team Pandamonium proved why they are still the champions.

This proved to the fans that the previous game win against Pandas in the regular season was not a fluke and that Plantronics Tainted Minds are real contenders to topple the champions. They are more eager than ever to get into Split 2 and begin their reign at the top!
