For the first time we had more than one team competing at a single LAN event. The Call of Duty team qualified through an online tournament, placing in the top 4 for a share of $10,000 USD prize pool and CWL points as part of the CyberGamer Premier League - Challenge Division. Joining them was our newly acquired SMITE team who would play their Grand Final of the Oceanic Pro League - Split 1 for a share of $10,000 AUD.
Directly following the CWL Stage 1 Finals Tainted Minds competed in the $70,000 Invitational hosted at Crown Resorts in Melbourne and broadcast on Fox Sports.
For the first time ever international teams travelled to Australia to compete in a tournament in our region. The Aussies were able to finally test themselves against the champions of CWL Stage 1 from both North America and Europe.
The Call of Duty® World League Presented by PlayStation 4 - Stage 1 Finals were held on Sunday the 20th of March live from the ESL Australia Studio in Sydney.
The top 4 teams from the Stage 1 online phase went head to head for the lionshare of the $150,000 USD prize pool and the glory of being named the Australian and New Zealand Champion.
